Subject Line Descriptions

Recommended Posts

It is so frustrating for me to go into one of the forum areas and filter through the topics to read when I see subject lines like: "Newbie needs help", or Help me!" or " I have a question" or "Need your assistance." Etc.
Having a question or needing help is not a subject. "Laser Communication" is a subject. "Remote control of my Lawnmower" is a subject. "LM317 Power Supply" is a subject. "Can't identify this transistor" is a subject. Sure it is simple to say need help. But then, we could all just use the word "electronics" as a subject line for everything we post in that case...
Anyway, I think I have made my point. Does this bother anyone else? I just like to see the subject before reading the thread. Thanks for letting me vent.

It is a good idea...... at least, a clear subject title can save us some times in click into those we interested.

And be honest, some of these posts are just homework.... sure we won't like to work these out for others studys.

Nothing new. This is something that's been bugging on lists since the 80's.

I agree with you in that it's major, "GRRRRRRRR!" territory.

How about requiring that everyone read ESR's "How to Ask Questions..." document before allowing them to post? ;D
