Recommended Posts

I need help(the hex file that prom chip 24c04 uses), mine seems to have gone .
aopen  monitor 17 inch .other chips work  as i have tested it . but when i try to copy it it seems to destroy the chip i am copying from as well. dont get any help from local suppliers, they just want to sell new ones. the chips from several different monitors seem to work as long as they are 24c04 (stmicro) I need a new hex file or uncompiled program to upload to new chips. It controllers the linear ,size etc from the front buttons on the screen
Thanks Taz

The manufacturer of your monitor is the only source that will have the program that goes in the eeprom that is in your monitor. They are not going to give you the source or the hex code to download into your own eeprom. You will have to purchase the already programmed eeprom from them. This is simply how it works. Source code is considered a proprietary item for all manufacturing firms. This keeps their products from being duplicated in mass and putting them out of business when they come up with a design everyone wants to use. It is pure survival. A programmed eeprom cannot cost that much. It is certainly a lot less than replacing the monitor.

Actually I am very familiar with this problem. I work in the world of manufacturing and export to all countries. I have seen a lot of this. Customs agencies can charge pretty much what they want. Warranty or not.
