mugunthans
Hi,I wanted to modify the input power range from 120v to 230V Panasonic cordless phone charger SMPS type, which is currently supporting only 120v AC.I have opened the charger and tried to find the similarity with Nokia charger(100-230v), but not much information. It has UTC MJE 13003L - High Voltage Fast-Switching NPN Power Transistor. Also other SMD component 6pin DIP but unable to find #,manufacturere details but it shows LĀBUFuse resistor - 10ΩInput filter capasitor - 4.7μF 200vInput Inductance - 470mHCan anybody thro' some light on this. Thanks in advance,Mugunth
Hero999
It's a bad idea because the PCB and transformer creapage and clearances will be designed for 110V and might not be adequate for 240V. It also might create stability problems in the controller IC because the duty cycle will be lower than what it was initially designed for.The six pin IC is probably an opto isolator.I don't think there's any need to do this, you can buy cheap small step down transformers to power 120 devices in 230V areas.
