Hello all
I want to design a DC-DC buck converter with following specifications.
Input voltage: 48-72 Volt
Output voltage: 12 Volt
Output current: 15 Amps
I am new to electronics (I am a mechanical engineer) but have read some books on power electronics before starting.
I need your help to choose components based on your experiences. I have read some documents on selecting the caps and inductors but I need you to prescribe what PWM IC and MOSFET to use. There are so many PWM IC available I can’t decide which one to use. Based on your experience and latest offering from companies can someone prescribe me where to start with?
Also I would like to know should I go with isolated or non-isolated type of converter. What are the merits and demerits of both. Is the money spend making it isolate type is worth?

Regards
