Bluetooth activated relay

Recommended Posts

I,

I have a compound bench saw which has a Bluetooth transmitter for turning a Bluetooth vacuum cleaner off and on to collect dust. I don't have a Bluetooth enabled vacuum cleaner.

The question is what would I need to build to turn on a relay when I start the saw which will output a Bluetooth signal. I guess it will be a microcontroller (Arduino) that has a Bluetooth

add-on.

There is some good information on using Arduino boards and Bluetooth in the Arduino Cookbook. It can be download free from;

Cookbook  One can use a Bluetooth enabled  PC for testing I believe. The pairing address from the table saw would be needed I gather.

The Arduino board to the vacuum cleaner can be done with a simple transistor circuit driving a relay as an on/off switch.

If you need further help do not be afraid to ask.
