Infineon Technologies AG has introduced the PSOC Control C3 series microcontrollers (MCUs), based on the Arm Cortex-M33 core, for motor control and power conversion applications. Supported by the ModusToolbox software environment, these MCUs offer a scalable range of performance, features, and memory options. The series includes Entry Line (C3P2, C3M2) and Main Line (C3P5, C3M5) devices, providing flexibility for various system requirements.

The Entry Line MCUs feature high-resolution and high-precision A/D converters and timers, while the Main Line variants add high-resolution Pulse Width Modulation (HRPWM) for precise motor and power control. With real-time event response and integrated memory, these MCUs optimize system efficiency while supporting multiple communication interfaces for broader application compatibility.

All PSOC Control C3 MCUs are designed for executing power and motor control loops, with the Main Line models offering higher switching frequencies and compatibility with Wide Bandgap (WBG) power systems. Their low-latency architecture and efficient resource utilization make them well-suited for high-performance motor drive and power conversion applications.

The PSOC Control series is designed for applications such as HVAC, home appliances, robotics, telecom and server power supplies, light electric vehicle chargers, solar inverters, and industrial automation. To enhance security, these MCUs integrate hardware-based cryptography engines, secure boot, and memory protection units, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and firmware.

Developers can leverage ModusToolbox, a unified ecosystem platform that provides software solutions and development tools for PSOC Control applications. It includes the ModusToolbox Motor Suite and Power Conversion Configurator, which offer a graphical user interface and real-time debugging for faster and more efficient development.

Infineon provides three development kits to simplify the design process:

  • KIT_PSC3M5_EVK: General-purpose evaluation kit
  • KIT_PSC3M5_CC2: Motor control kit
  • KIT_PSC3M5_CC1: Power conversion kit
