Makerfabs recently introduced the ‘MaTouch ESP32-S3 SPI IPS 2.8″ module’, a simple ESP32-S3-based display with OV3660 camera support, designed for applications like remote monitoring and facial recognition.

The module features an ESP32-S3 controller with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, 16MB Flash, and 8MB PSRAM. It includes a MicroSD slot for storage. Key highlights are its 2.8-inch LCD (320×240, ST7789V driver, SPI interface) and a 5-point capacitive touch panel (GT911 driver, I2C).

The OV3660 camera on the module, with 3MP, captures up to 2048 x 1536 resolution, which is suitable for applications like facial recognition. It supports RAW, RGB, and YCbCr formats and has a 1.4um pixel size with a rolling shutter.

This module operates between -40℃ to +85℃, supports Arduino, and includes USB to UART (CH340K) and native USB. USB Type-C powers it. More info on MaTouch ESP32-S3 SPI IPS 2.8 is available on the company’s Wiki Page.
