Murata Launches LBWA0ZZ2HK and LBWA0ZZ2HL Ultra-Low Power Wi-Fi HaLow 11ah Modules for Long-Range IoT Applications
Murata has launched two ultra-low-power Wi-Fi HaLow 11ah modules, LBWA0ZZ2HK and LBWA0ZZ2HL. These modules comply with Sub-1 GHz (S1G) Wi-Fi standards and enable high-speed communication over distances of more than 1km.
These compact modules support +23dBm (Type 2HK) and +13dBm (Type 2HL) power outputs, making them ideal for smart IoT applications in consumer devices (smart homes, accessories, Security cameras) and industrial sectors (access control, energy solutions, building automation, cameras, and medical devices). Built with NEWRACOM’s NRC7394 chipset featuring an Arm Cortex-M3 processor, they offer native IP compliance without network costs, long-range, high-speed communication, and reduced system expenses by minimizing the need for repeaters. The key features include SPI, UART, I2C interfaces, 2-channel 10-bit ADC, GPIO, and a wide operating temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). These modules are designed to automate infrastructure management and hazardous areas, enabling sustainable and cost-efficient IoT deployments.
The Type 2HK operates at 902-928 MHz with a range of over 2km, while the Type 2HL supports 750-950 MHz with a range of over 1km. Additionally, compared to other low-power, wide-area (LPWA) network technologies, the long-range, high-speed communication of the modules that facilitate image and video transmission are designed to provide reliable, extended wireless coverage for worldwide IoT solutions.
We have previously covered the Teledatics HaloMax sub-1 GHz Wireless Module, a long-range wireless communication module designed for sub-1 GHz frequency bands, operating in the 902 to 928 MHz frequency range. After going through some articles, we learned about the Gateworks GW16146 802.11ah HaLow Mini-PCIe radio, based on the Newracom SoC for IoT applications. Murata has previously developed some wireless modules including the world’s smallest ultra-wideband (UWB) module, the Type 2BZ module, the Type 1XK Wi-Fi+Bluetooth module, and many more. Feel free to check those out, if you are interested in this topic.
