The Orbbec Perceptor Developer Kit (OPDK) is a new out-of-the-box solution for developing autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). It uses four Gemini 335L Depth+RGB cameras for 360-degree vision, powered by an NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin system-on-module. This allows the OPDK to handle complex tasks like SLAM and 3D scene reconstruction in dynamic environments such as warehouses and factories. The cameras offer high-precision depth resolution and a wide field of view, while the Jetson AGX Orin provides the processing power needed for AI model inference and other demanding tasks. The OPDK aims to simplify and accelerate AMR development, especially in applications requiring robust vision and navigation capabilities.

Previously we have written about various robotic kits including the High Torque Mini π, the Qualcomm Robotics RB1, and RB2 development kit, the s Makeblock’s premier DIY robotics and educational kit, and much more feel free to check those out if you are interested in the topic.

The OPDK integrates four Gemini335L Depth+RGB cameras with the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin SoM for 360-degree vision. The cameras feature Orbbec’s MX6800 ASIC for in-camera depth processing, optimizing power consumption and reducing computational load, freeing up resources for tasks like SLAM and dynamic object detection.

The company also mentions that Each Gemini 335L camera offers 1280×800 depth resolution at 30 FPS, a wide field of view for 360-degree coverage, USB connectivity, and an IP65 rating for durability in various environments. The Sync Hub coordinates the cameras for precise multi-angle data collection, reducing latency and enhancing 3D mapping accuracy.

The company mentions that the Orbbec Perceptor Developer Kit with PDK and GMSL cameras will soon be available. Further details on pricing are not specified on the product page. Some more additional information can be found on the press release page.
