A rechargeable battery’s load should be disconnected at the point of complete discharge, to avoid a further (deep) discharge that can shorten its life or destroy it. Because a battery’s terminal voltage recovers when you disconnect the load, you can’t simply disconnect the load when the terminal voltage dips below the established threshold and then re-connect it when the voltage returns above that threshold. Such action may produce chatter in the disconnect switch. The project shown here is a complete solution to this problem.

This new device has a double purpose as the temperature can be measured by the built-in thermo cross, or with a standard external type K sensor. Its main function uses the three filaments (one of which is mechanical only) that form the probe: the soldering tip has to touch at their intersection and the real temperature can be measured and shown in the middle of the screen of the WCU. The two contacts that carry out the reading are protected with heat-resistant and antistatic caps to avoid false readings caused by the proximity of the soldering iron’s resistance to the probes. There is a metal plate under them to simplify cleaning, and the probes are easily replaceable (5 in the scope of supply and also available in packs of 10 pcs, T0058771712). As an alternative to the thermo cross, a type K thermocouple can be connected simultaneously to carry out temperature measurements of any type: from a solder bath or a process.It can even verify “system accuracy” regardless of the specific tip used, but based on a sample tip, and this would use the 0.5 mm probe together with the appropriate Weller measurement tip (sold separately, T0053119099).

Weller WCU can be connected to Weller units from the WX family but can also be used with older or other units, even with other brands, as well as used as an external temperature sensor (not necessarily for tips or nozzles). By connecting it to the Weller WX units (using a special cable sold separately, T0058764710), once the temperature verification process has been completed (about 10 “), any offset will be automatically set in the built-in memory of the WX connected tool.

Diodes’s automotive-compliant 40V rated synchronous buck converter support high efficient operation and reduce EMI

Diodes Corporation recently announced a new addition to its family of automotive-qualified DC-DC converters. The DIODES™AP64060Q is a 600mA synchronous buck converter device with an input voltage range that covers 4.5V to 40V. It incorporates a 600mΩ high-side power MOSFET plus a 300mΩ low-side power MOSFET so that high-efficiency step-down conversion (reaching 90%) can be delivered, and with minimal PCB board space. The AP64060Q is targeted for use in automotive powertrains, infotainment systems, and instrumentation clusters, as well as vehicles’ exterior lighting.

The AP64060Q has a very low quiescent current (IQ), typically only 90μA, which translates into enhanced light load efficiency. Thanks to the fast switching frequencies this device supports (2MHz), smaller accompanying inductors and capacitors can be selected. Its synchronous rectification eliminates the need for an external Schottky diode, while the use of a peak current mode control and built-in loop compensation network further reduces the overall component count.

The proprietary gate driver scheme employed in the AP64060Q alleviates switching node ringing without impacting on MOSFET turn-on and turn-off times. This mitigates high frequency radiated electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise caused by MOSFET switching.

The AP64060Q has an operating ambient temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. Protection features include overvoltage protection (OVP), undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and thermal shutdown. This device is supplied in a compact TSOT26 package.

EncroPi – RTC Combined with the Power of the RP2040 Microcontroller

EncroPi is a device that when connected to a system, can be used to log data, encrypt data, or as a secure key, and store the data in real-time. FriendlyElec launched a Rockchip RK3399 powered single-board computer for NAS applications

NanoPi R4SE single-board computer

In a follow-up to the earlier NanoPi R4S, FriendlyElec has announced the release of the NanoPi R4SE, an open-source platform with dual-Gbps Ethernet ports designed for IoT applications.

The new NanoPi R4SE is powered by a Rockchip RK3399 hexa-core processor with a clock speed up to 1.5GHz. A microSD card can be used to install the 16-bit eMMC flash module, which has 32GB of storage. The majority of the features in this model are the same as in the previous NanoPi R4S, including dual GbE (RJ45) network ports, one of which is served by the SoC and the other by the PCIe controller.

However, the GPIO and USB 2.0 connectors have been removed, and the router is now only available with 4GB LPDDR4 and no alternative for only 1GB RAM. Since archiving high throughputs is typically a barrier for router boards, the new onboard flash provides better read/write speeds than the previous model. Additionally, there are two USB 3.0 Type-A ports and a USB Type-C power connector (5V/3A).

NanoPi R4SE single-board computer case

The hardware can be used as a portable compact PC to run Android or a lite version of Ubuntu Linux. A compact metal box with the dimensions of 72x72x29 mm can also be used to house the board. Doogee S89 Series – The Rugged Phone Series With 12000mAh Battery And RGB Lights

The Nothing phone (1) has been in the news recently for its unusual design. And it is already inspiring other brands, or… Doogee plans to launch the versatile S89 series, a pair of rugged phones with an RGB light effect on the back. But that’s not the only thing that makes the S89 series unique. This series comes with an enormous 12000 mAh battery.

The Nothing Phone (1) advertises its light effects as “Glyph”. But Doogee markets theirs as “Breathing Light.” The Doogee’s breathing light has more of an RGB light effect as compared to the Nothing phone. Users can customize what colors they prefer and assign them to different functions. Doogee also claims users can control other aspects such as light pattern and speed and select a series of colors to glow in the desired sequence.

If you have a sense of déjà vu, it’s because the S89 series is based on the legacy of an earlier Doogee series—the Doogee S88 series. The S88 series, with a massive 10,000 mAh battery and RGB light, remains one of the best-selling series to come out of the company, and they are trying to recapture that fire again.

Doogee is claiming it has found a way to engineer a 12000mAh battery into the S89 series’ 19.4mm thick case. This is impressive considering the size of the battery and the company’s ability to manage to keep the weight of the phone at 400g.

When you hear a large battery, it sounds good until you realize you have to charge it. Doogee’s fast charging technology is up to par with its large battery ambitions. The S89 Pro will ship with a 65W fast charger (the first rugged phone to ship with a 65W charger), which is capable of recharging the battery from 0 to 100% in about two hours. The S89, on the other hand, only comes with a 33W charger.

For cameras, the S89 series features a tri-camera setup, with the S89 Pro going for a 64MP + 20MP + 8MP set up on the back. The S89, on the other hand, comes with a 48MP + 20MP + 8MP setup. Both devices’ main cameras are tuned to get the best out of every shot that is taken. Both the 20MP sensors are for night vision, and finally, the 8MP sensors are meant to be used for ultra-wide shots. Sony built all the sensors used on the rear of this series.

Under the hood, the S89 series trusts the MediaTek Helio P90 to handle its performance. The S89 Pro will then pair the chipset with a base memory configuration of 8GB + 256GB. The S89, on the other hand, features an 8GB + 128GB base memory setup.

It goes without saying that the S89 series is waterproof and dustproof with its IP68 and IP69K ratings. It is also MIL-STD-810H certified, making it drop-proof. Furthermore, it also comes with NFC, runs Android 12 OS out of the box, reverses charging, custom button, and many more.

The S89 series’ launch date is earmarked for August 22nd on both AliExpress and Doogeemall.
