Converting from Eagle to KiCad

kicad_pcbnew

lachlanA @ github.com has published a Eagle SCH/LIB to KiCad SCH/LIB ULP conversion script:

The following 5 ulp (eagle user script file) and one ulp include file, work together or stand alone to convert Eagle sch/pcb version 6.xx(7.xx maybe?) file(s) and any version of Eagle lib(lbr) to KiCad sch/pcb and lib/mod files.

ATtiny OLED Watch Core

FDE7JXRIILZRAY9.MEDIUM

陳亮 @ instructables.com shows us his ATtiny85 OLED display build on a breadboard:

This instructable show how to use an ATtiny85 to create a tiny watch core that can run over 1 year before recharge or replace battery.

The instruction to make the watch case may be in next instructable.

I have made a few Arduino watch before, but I found the watch using ATmega boards or ATmega chips are a little bit too big to wear. So I would like to make it with a smaller chips.

Setting Up Python web server for Raspberry Pi

PiHttpServer-2

Sankar Cheppali will show us how to setup a python based web server to serve simple html pages to the clients using Raspberry Pi.

Serving web pages from embedded devices is not easy task as embedded devices have limitations in processing power , memory available etc. But with Raspberry Pi this task becomes very easy. We have lot of packages, programming platforms and libraries to chose from because pi is from Linux family.

Raspberry Pi Zero 4 Port USB Hub

pi-hub

Peter van der Walt has designed a nice USB Hub for Raspberry Pi Zero computer. Design files are available on github:

In line with my other projects I need to make a USB hub attachment for the Pi Zero.
Seeing as the community figured out that the Raspberry Pi Design team was clever enough to leave us D+ and D- test points at the bottom, I came up with this design above.

Texas CC2538 based development board

cc2538-development-board-3

Jelmer Tiete has designed a development board for the TI CC2538, that is available at GitHub:

It’s a nice little system-on-chip with an ARM Cortex M3, 2.4 GHz 802.15.4 radio and it runs at 32 MHz. Perfect for all your favorite Internet Of Things (IOT) shenanigans. Contiki supports this chip pretty well, which means easy 6LoWPAN, RPL and CoAP support.

LTC3815 – 6A Monolithic Synchronous DC/DC Step-Down Converter

3815

Linear Technology Corporation announces the LTC3815, a high efficiency 6A monolithic synchronous step-down DC/DC converter with an I2C-based PMBus interface for digital power system management (PSM). The LTC3815’s simplified and intuitive PMBus “Lite” command set makes it simple to use. The digital interface provides programming and read back of voltage, current, temperature and faults; all supported by LTpowerPlay™ software. This interface allows the output voltage to be margined over a ±25% range with 0.1% resolution. The default output voltage is set with a single external resistor and will power up to this voltage with or without the serial interface.

Cheap Arduino WiFi shield with ESP8266

FRHHTVAIIEYWCC6.MEDIUM

TheTwim @ instructables.com show us how to make a cheap ESP8266 Arduino Shield

This is just the first step to make a cheap Arduino WiFi shield using the ESP8266 module. With few more electronic components and the WiFiEsp library you can build it for less that 10 USD.

Arduino IR Remote Control

FRB3S7XIIG9WV8P.MEDIUM

theorycircuit @ instructables.com shows us how to use TSOP 1738 IR receiver with your Arduino Board.

By using arduino and IR Receiver TSOP 1738 (in our project, you can use any ir receiver available) we can decode any infrared remote code into hex or some other format. Before constructing the circuit check datasheet of IR receiver having in your hand, hence you can connect proper bias pins and output pin.
